Training Workshops + Presentations
Since 2022, I’ve developed and facilitated training workshops about substance use, addiction, harm reduction, overdose prevention, treatment options, recovery support, mental health, and other topics for a wide range of service providers working with people who use alcohol and other drugs. Participants include behavioral health providers, case managers, supportive housing staff, peer support specialists, harm reduction staff, nurses, first responders, government employees, and other individuals throughout the U.S.
Presentation slides are designed to be visually engaging and accessible to a broad audience, offering opportunities to discuss different perspectives, explore attitudes and practices, and learn how to implement change. Trainings are via Zoom or in person depending on the request.
Recent clients include the Opioid Response Network, the Northeast & Caribbean Addiction Technology Transfer Center, the Northeast & Caribbean Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Center, the Northeast & Caribbean Mental Health Technology Transfer Center, and the Fund for Public Health NYC.
Sample topics:
- Current Substance Use Trends and Evolving Risks
- Offering Support with a Harm Reduction Approach
- Understanding Addiction and Options for Care
- Supporting Treatment and Recovery from Substance Use Disorders
- Working with People Engaging in Risky Behaviors
- Preventing and Dealing with Loss from Suicide or Overdose
- Building Bridges Between Harm Reduction and Treatment for People with SUDs
With my background in journalism and work creating public art and education projects, I’ve also given presentations on how media and storytelling shape attitudes about alcohol and drugs. Recent talks include:
